About this policy
This policy covers Sakeenah, the Android app that calculates prayer times and temporarily manages phone sound during the quiet periods you choose. For privacy enquiries, contact developer@etalken.com.
Information used on your phone
Sakeenah stores your chosen location name, coordinates and timezone; prayer calculation choices and timing rules; language and appearance preferences; skipped quiet periods; and a temporary record of the sound settings needed for restoration. These are used to calculate prayer times, follow your schedule and restore settings the app changed.
This information is processed in the app on your device. Sakeenah does not transmit it to us or an app-operated server. City search uses a bundled GeoNames database, and prayer times are calculated locally. The app has no advertising, analytics or remote crash-reporting SDK and does not request internet permission.
Optional device location
Device location is requested when you choose “Use my location” and grant Android location permission. Approximate location is accepted; precise location can be used if you allow it. You can instead search for a city or enter coordinates and a timezone without granting location access.
Sakeenah does not request background location or track your travel. Your selected location remains saved until you change it or delete the app's data. Android's location services may use their own network services according to your device settings and the location provider's policies; this is separate from Sakeenah's local calculations and city search.
Device access and sound
- Location: optional foreground location selection.
- Do Not Disturb access: management of Sakeenah's own quiet rule and permitted ringer-mode changes.
- Alarms and reminders: starting and ending quiet periods on schedule.
- Audio settings: temporary sound changes and restoration. Optional “Mute media” also saves and restores this phone's media volume.
- Startup: restoring the schedule after the device restarts.
Changing sound settings does not give Sakeenah access to the content of calls or messages. The app does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, messages, call history or shared files.
Storage, security and deletion
Settings are kept in Android's private app storage. Sakeenah disables Android cloud backup and excludes its data from Android device transfer. There is no developer-held copy of your prayer settings or location. No storage method can provide an absolute guarantee of security.
Preferences remain until changed or deleted. The temporary sound-restoration record is cleared after the app finishes restoring or releasing the quiet period. If Android interrupts restoration, that record may remain until the app can reconcile the state.
You can change the location, disable individual prayers, revoke permissions, or clear the app's storage in Android settings. Uninstalling or clearing storage deletes the app's locally stored information. End an active quiet period before clearing storage or uninstalling, so its saved sound settings can be restored. There is no account to delete.
Sharing and support messages
Sakeenah does not sell your app data or send it to advertisers or third-party analytics services. It does not upload your location, prayer preferences or sound settings.
If you email the privacy contact, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. This correspondence is handled through the email service used for support, used to respond to your enquiry, and retained only as needed to resolve it or meet applicable legal obligations. You may request deletion of support correspondence at the same address.
Children and family use
Sakeenah does not ask for a user's age or create user profiles. Its app data remains on the device regardless of the user's age. A parent or guardian can manage device permissions and remove locally stored app information through Android settings. Privacy enquiries from parents or guardians can be sent to the contact below.
